A contagious disease is an example of communicable disease. Communicable diseases are transmitted easily from one person to another easily by physical contact or by the objects touch by suffering persons.

Diabetes is non contagious disease. It doesn't spread by any physical contact. Diabetes is chronic and deadly too.
Diabetes is a condition when the body cannot regulate glucose in the body. This mainly due to low production of insulin or when there is halt in production of insulin. Diabetes is mainly divided as type 1 and type 2 diabetes.
Type 1 diabetes is a condition when there is no insulin in the body. This halt in production is mainly due to autoimmune system of the human body which destroys the beta cells of the pancreas which are responsible for production of insulin.

95 percent of the people suffering with diabetes are with type 2. It is to people who are above 40 years of age and here insulin is not a must dose. So it also known by the names Non insulin dependent diabetes mellitus or Adult onset diabetes.

The common symptoms of diabetes are
Weakness: Due to glucose toxicity the glucose is not converted to energy and a person feels tired and always feels happy to sleep.
Weight loss : As necessary calories are not developed in the body weight loss is a common symptom in diabetic person.
Increased Urination: As the kidneys spills out excessive sugar present in the blood there is an increase in amount of urine made. This condition leads to dehydration in the body as expelled sugar takes large amount of water along with it.
Increased thirst: Increase in urination leads to increased thirst. To compensate the loss of water the body signals of thirst
Increase in appetite:This is common in type 2 diabetes people as the body makes excessive insulin due to insulin resistance. The function of insulin is to stimulate hunger.
Poor wound healing: High blood sugar is harmful in many ways. It prevent white blood cells i.e. antibodies, whose function is to defend the body against bacteria and cleaning up dead tissue and cells. Which make poor wound healing .
Nervous system damage: A person who is diabetic gets easily irritated, agitated or confused most of the times. One of the main reasons for it is high glucose levels in the body.
Infections : Skin infections, yeast infections and frequent urinary tract infections occurs these are due to high blood sugar level in the body, which prevents immune system of the body to act effectively.
